What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

I thrive at the intersection of business and design. I create window displays and floorplans informed by sales data. I create art that aims to be both popular and subversive. I lead an organization through iteration and feedback. I’m tuning myself for a future where business and design must coexist.

What's the most courageous thing you've ever done?

Going to community college was the best decision of my life. I was a high-achieving student in high school, took 10 APs, ran the yearbook, swam. It’s what you did. If you didn’t get in to the top universities, something was wrong with you. But when I wasn’t getting accepted to the schools I wanted to go to, it was really disenchanting. It forced me to examine what was so important to me about the prestige of education. I freed myself from the pressure of keeping up academic appearances, grinding just to grind. I was free to experiment with majors, switching 5+ times. Architecture, Law, Philosophy, Accounting, Graphic Design, and finally Marketing. I wish I could major in all of them, but free lectures and online books are all I really need.

How are creativity and innovation related?

Creativity is the process, innovation is the product. Out of creativity, innovation is born.

Why do companies need clarity and creativity?

Clarity keeps the organization together. Creativity keeps the organization moving forward.

You have 30 minutes of free time. What do you do with it?

I fire up illustrator and make some posters, go for a walk and write in the notes app, or I hang out with my friends.

What is one risky and bold goal in life you have? Or, if you could dedicate your life to solving one problem, what would it be?

I want us to make simplicity an American Ideal. I want us to shift consumption away from excess and trend. I want us to democratize thoughtful and deliberate shopping and ownership of things. I want us to make beautiful and well-made things, and less of them. “You ask what is the proper limit to a person’s wealth? First, having what is essential, and second, having what is enough.” — Seneca Simple living should be for everyone.

Explain your creative process

The process is constant, I have to stay tuned to the fleeting ideas that whir through our heads all the time and write them down in the notes app. When it’s time to work, I sift through all my notes and find some interesting things. Now it’s time to draft. I always work with many artboards, usually 80, so I can rapidly draft many things. Sometimes a draft will sit for weeks until it’s right, sometimes it’s instant. It’s a filtering process, where ideas get sifted through finer and finer sieves until only the best remain.

What is the best advice that you have been given?

“Attention is earned.” You’re not entitled to being listened to, heard, noticed. Nobody owes you their attention. Attention is a precious resource, constantly being demanded and hijacked. Of course we are careful with where our attention goes. So if you want someone’s attention, you must earn it. You must make it worth their attention. And you must respect their attention.

What is your definition of creativity?

Making new things out of old things, fresh things out of dull things, familiar things out of forgotten things, simple things out of complex things. Creativity is a process, where a thousand ideas turn into a hundred candidates turn into ten drafts turn into a finished product.

What 10 songs are on your favorite playlist right now?

Visions – Charli XCX Alice – Lady Gaga Movies – Weyes Blood Anna Wintour – Azealia Banks XS – Rina Sawayama Ma Mère L’Oye - Le Jardin Féerique – Maurice Ravel Pills – St. Vincent Lionsong – Björk Nasty – Rico Nasty Nymph – Brooke Candy

How do you want people to remember you?

I want them to feel heard, truly listened to. I want them to remember that even in a simple conversation I afforded them my whole attention. We don’t really listen, we just wait for our turn to speak.
