Bio

I am a graphic designer from the Netherlands. In 2019, I graduated from the graphic design department at Utrecht School of the Art. Since then I have been working on various personal and commissioned projects, practicing my photography skills and I started a masters in design cultures. My main focus is on editorial design and visual identities. I also have a passion for exhibition design. My work combines a distinctive visual language and a clear message, thus forming a coherent final result through both offline and online mediums. I believe that a design is never finished, but when the outcome surprises me, I am satisfied with the result.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

What's the most courageous thing you've ever done?

Every year, the students of the University of Fine Arts graduate, showcasing their work in a Media Exhibition. In 2019 I took it upon me to organise that event. That meant endeavouring far beyond my professional background. Not only was I responsible for the concept and the design of the exhibition, I also had to negotiate with commercial parties such as printers and interior builders, finding common ground between numerous professionals, securing financing from sponsors and starting a crowdfunding campaign. All this while keeping the project on time and within budget. It was scary because there were no guarantees that the end result would work out well and if I failed, it would not only have consequences for me but for all the graduates of that year.

How are creativity and innovation related?

Creativity is the ability to change perspectives to discover opportunities for better results. Innovation is the process that transforms the opportunity with persistence and discipline into that better result. That makes creativity an important, but not the only, part of innovation.

Why do companies need clarity and creativity?

This is an era of turbulence. A company needs clear sight on its purpose and what it wants to achieve to remain relevant and to avoid the trap of becoming mediocre. Precisely because there is much confusion in society, markets, and customers, clarity has to be a strategic beacon. Creativity, on the other hand, is the instrument that unchains talents in the company so that it can respond and anticipate on fast changing challenges. It is instrumental to stand out and be noticed. Both qualities are, in my opinion, essential for an agile and resilient organisation that wants to prosper in today’s world.

You have 30 minutes of free time. What do you do with it?

I will watch a cooking show on YouTube and drink a good cappuccino.

What is one risky and bold goal in life you have? Or, if you could dedicate your life to solving one problem, what would it be?

My goal in life is to start my own successful design company abroad.

Explain your creative process

I often start my design process with thorough research of the subject at hand. I combine the results with small sketches and experiments. I try out many different things, both digital and analog, until I find myself surprised. Then the ‘real’ design process begins, in which feedback plays an important part. That feedback is used to draft up more detailed sketches that enable me to methodologically work toward a finalised design, one step at a time.

What is the best advice that you have been given?

My father always told me: “Don’t go for safe bets, but follow your passion and succes will follow.”

What is your definition of creativity?

The ability to look differently at certain things and to come up with original ideas.
