Bio

I am a scrappy self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit & a knack for brand strategy. I've done product, content, & brand development projects in several startup & established business environments. My favorite projects are those I can offer mentorship to new entrepreneurs & startups pro-bono. My passion for strategy was realized pursuing my graduate degree at USC. With heavy influence from my training at NC A&T, I approach strategy from a design thinking POV (i.e. empathy drives me).

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

You should pick me becuase

I am not afraid to ask questions. My curiosity has inspired companies, clients, and colleagues to push past their parameters and explore unexpected possibilities. I’m also known for leading from the middle, meaning I easily communicate common goals from seemingly disconnected ideas and ensure everyone feels seen, heard, and understood.

What's the most courageous thing you've ever done?

I chose to live. That may be a little grim, but it’s the most courageous thing I’ve ever done. There was a point in my life where traumatic experience after traumatic experience chipped away at my identity, leaving a hollow shell of my former self. Existing (i.e. doing the bare minimum to stay alive) became exhausting. I was at a crossroad: give up or live life intentionally. It wasn’t an easy decision at the time, but everyday I wake up I am beyond grateful I chose life.

How are creativity and innovation related?

Both creativity and innovation require you to open your mind and explore your imagination. Whether it be an iterative or disruptive solution, unconventional thinking is necessary to bring a fresh perspective or new idea to the table.

Why do companies need clarity and creativity?

Companies need both because they are often the determinants of success or failure. Creativity motivates and clarity directs. Creativity excites and energizes the team, but without clear understanding of implementation, progress (and morale) beyond the ideation phase usually dwindles. Clarity maps out the path and designates responsibilities, but without creativity, there is only more of the same. Together, creativity and clarity paint the whole picture answering what, why, and how.

You have 30 minutes of free time. What do you do with it?

Here’s the breakdown on a weekday: 3 minutes triple checking I am not forgetting to do or attend something, 2 minutes deciding what I can use the time to capitalize on (i.e. knocking out quick “to-do” list items, socializing, a break, etc.). 23 minutes doing that thing. 2 minutes prepping for the next scheduled item in my planner.

What is one risky and bold goal in life you have? Or, if you could dedicate your life to solving one problem, what would it be?

I’ve always said my end goal is to make the world a better place than whence I came. As a kid, I made plans to cure cancer or solve for world hunger. Today, my personal mission is to revolutionize the way the world approaches and solves problems through interdisciplinary collaboration, education, and innovation. Death to silos! :)

Explain your creative process

My process is a combination of the traditional design thinking and universal traveler models. It’s iterative, but here are the steps I typically follow: Acceptance. (Understanding the “why”) Research & Analyze. (Become “subject matter expert”) Ideation. (Brainstorming, my favorite part!) Prototype & Test. (Build & test MVP) Evaluate. (Determine next steps)

What is the best advice that you have been given?

“Don’t be afraid to ask questions, especially difficult ones. You’d be surprised how many people are wondering the same thing.” - Momma Lucas

What is your definition of creativity?

I associate creativity with play, because both broaden and build our thoughts and actions. Creativity, like play, doesn’t have a script. It broadens the kinds of things we consider doing. We become more susceptible to out-of-the-box thinking which builds our resourcefulness and transferable skills.

What 10 songs are on your favorite playlist right now?

More Than I Can Bear - God’s Property Vibrate - Outkast Legend - Drake Human - Tank and the Bangas Blessings (feat. Ty Dolla $ign, Raury, BJ The Chicago Kid & Anderson .Paak) - Chance the Rapper His Pain - BJ the Chicago Kid Cranes in the Sky - Solange On & On - Erykah Badu Heard ‘Em Say (feat. Adam Levine) - Kanye West I Was Here - Beyonce

How do you want people to remember you?

I want to be remembered as warm, encouraging, and committed. As mentioned earlier, my goal in every interaction is to ensure everyone feels seen, heard, and understood whether it be directly as I collaborate on a team or indirectly as the end user of a product/service.
