Good afternoon, my name is Ananti which means 'in􀃕nity' in Sanskrit. I'm 24-year-old Thai, born in Bangkok, raised in the countryside in the west of Thailand where's my Thai accent has changed a little, then moved back to study in the university and work in the capital city of the land of smile again. I graduated from Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, major in graphic design, Chulalongkorn university thus I'm currently working as a graphic designer in Plaimanas Industries design and coding agency based in Bangkok. According to my childhood experiences when I was raised in the country named Suphanburi which is a small province full of rice 􀃕eld landscape, fancy temples, and a lot of bu􀃠aloes all of those vernacular cultures are immensely in􀃖uenced my perspective of art and design. My passion for art started when I was taught to draw and paint in Thai traditional style which appears in Thai Buddhist temple murals (you will de􀃕nitely have seen this kind of art on tourist postcard from Thailand). Then I moved to study in university located in the middle of Bangkok, where I turned all my art skills to create work through graphic design thinking methods and learn to work with multidisciplinary team. That little girl from countryside still alive in me as well as my interest in diversity of cultures, so my academic thesis tilted as ‘Modern Vernacular Thai Graphic Design by Crowdsourcing strategy’ which I've been researched in various kind of creative 􀃕elds such as; art, product design, movie, advertisement in order to assembled design and culture together in the form of graphic design media. Although I have an interest in vernacular design however I am a very versatile person in both terms of aspect and skills. Currently, I'm experienced one year working as a graphic designer in Design and Coding agency which my role is included cooperate identity design, packaging design, web design, editorial design, and photography art direction. And of course, the little girl from the countryside is still living in me, my hungry of adventure drive me to seek for an opportunity to go out there all the time. Like this time.

You should select me because

Thailand is a developing country which is why our government's first priority is to develop basic facilities in order to improve the quality of life. So, all of those conditions have shaped people's perspective vastly, foundational careers have been considered as a necessary occupation more than others. For example, the Thai family encourage their children to have a medical occupation more than working in the entertainment industry, thus fewer people care about art or design. For example, there are only a few museums even I am located in the middle of the capital city, and there is less exhibition according to the design's community is so limited as well as the insufficient design learning facility.24 years of my life, I was born and raised in a middle-class family which I keep trying to push myself forward based on what I could have. When I was taught to paint a mural art in Thai temple 10 years ago, I had no idea where this path will lead me to. Then I was getting to know my passion for art and started to believe in my potential, I encouraged myself to put all of my skills; drawing, painting, sculpturing, illustration all I have got to step into the design industry. From the point of my first brush stroke to the first logo of mine on the company's website, I am very proud of myself while staying humble and realizing there is a long way to go, a wider world to explore. Now, I am willing to make a step further with all of my experiences and skills. I am a very ambitious person who would like to become a better designer who still keeps wondering and never stops creating.

1. Why are you interested in wgi?

According to my personal interest about design and culture, I always motivated myself to be lost in the new places, to connect with more stranger, to absorb new cultures and see how all of those raw materials change my aspect and how they affect on my design thinking process. Provided that, I found WGI is the most interesting program which could lead me to many places I have never been, have a lot of conversation with tons of people and learn from the top creative companies, all of those journeys, I could not think of anything better.

2. What are you looking to gain from an experience such as WGI?

I would like to enlarge my perspective by learning from people from various cultures who have experienced in different design fields, make new friends with a dissimilar language but share the same interest. Improving myself in both terms of aspect and skill. Overall, I would love to have a multi-culture shock experience.

3. What would be your goals after completing WGI if you were selected?

I am willing to absorb everything I could.

4. How did you hear about wgi?

Instagram ads leads me here, at the last minute of the apply deadline.

5. Share an example of a time you were most motivated and a time you were most demotivated.

There is a short remarkable part of my life, happened when I was studying last year in high school. I had an opportunity to apply to the internship program which provided the chance to be the junior intern in the professional company in the creative field. It was impossible for 17 years old high school student with no experience, no skill, and no self-esteem to step to someplace like a real company in the real world. So, I applied with no hesitate, with my thin portfolio. I was selected after an hour of interview, the company named **[Illusion CGI studio](http://www.illusion.co.th/)**, an international award-winning CGI studio based in Bangkok. Two weeks of being a junior intern in that company have become my worthy memory to keep in mind. I was surrounded by the professional team who work with passion in a very friendly environment, everyone I have talked to really love their job and enthusiastically to explain what is the process of creating a creative printed advertisement in the real world. I have a chance to have a conversation with *[Mr. Surachai Puthikulangkura](http://www.luerzersarchive.com/en/features/whos-who/surachai-puthikulangkura-49.html)* , Founder and CEO of Illusion. He is the highest ranking illustrator in Lürzer's Archive 2013, he gave me very wise advice. Firstly, try to create three straight lines on the blank paper. If you can draw it perfectly for the first time but the second line is not straight like the first one, it is just luck, not your ability. But if you can draw the line poorly at the first time but it keeps getting better and better even the last line is not perfectly straight but it shows that you have an improvement every time you have tried. That story deeply rooted in me and become my work ethic until now. After the internship, I decided to challenge myself again by applying the scholarship to study fine art in South Korea. I have been studying the Korean language five days a week while having and a final examination at school. I spent my weekend to make my portfolio, took an IELTS examination and write the essay more than ten times. But the result did not come out as my expectation, that is the most demotivated moment in my life because I always define myself with my talent in art but it turned out like I am not as good as I believe. Although, that was a hard time to recover my self-esteem however I never stop. I turned myself to design field which I have no confidence at all but I found this way is the right way for me at the end. The most demotivated time become my turning point in my life that I never regret.

6. In your opinion, what creates a great culture at a company?

From my aspect, I valued the company's aim the most and I think it would be a strong bond if the members of the company share the same belief and working with trust in order to achieve the challenging goal. When everyone never stops motivating each other it is the best working culture at a company.

7. What brands and companies do you admire and why?

[Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics](http://lush.com/) because of their strong brand identity, all of Lush's products speak the same massge 'fresh, green, and verdant'. Apart from good branding and products, they raise money for charities and other good causes.

8. What do you do to stay sharp and improve your craft?

I always push myself to create more dimension of my interest, I read a lot of books in various category and watch movies in many genres with no judgment but learn from what their message is. The more I consume the raws materials, the more possibilities to improve myself.

9. What’s your favorite quote?

I honestly do not have any favorite quote which once some of the infamous people said. But I keep telling myself 'yes, I can'.

10. If you could solve one problem in the world what would it be?
