Hello! My name is Yuan, currently a Design For Art Direction student at London College of Communication. I survived from the pandemic so I am looking for a job now.
My specialities cover graphic design, art direction for shooting, set design, responsive web design, and video editing. Apart from those skills, conceptualising and visualising ideas are crucial in my creative process.
I am not afraid of making efforts to do researches and self-learning new skills for projects, as long as it could deliver the ideal outcome.
1. What's the most courageous thing you've ever done?
I would say insisting self-quarantine in this year, and it has been nine months already. It is a huge challenge for me to make up different excuses not to be out. I keep using this time to do some self-learnings from HTML/CSS coding to sewing.
2. How are creativity and innovation related?
I think Creativity and Innovation are reciprocal to each other in a sense that, creativity stimulates new possibilities, and in this process, it requires innovation. In physics, there is The First Principle, which indicates thinker should search for the essence of existences. Then rethink the approach to new possibilities. I see it as Innovation. That says creativity encourages thinking. Thinking leads to innovation. Innovation is more like a methodology for Creativity.
3. Why do companies need clarity and creativity?
Clarity - For clients and customers, clarity from a company means a clear image of what the company is doing, what is the principle/aim/goal of the company. It gives a clear message to receivers to know if it is related to themselves in terms of service/culture/community/content and so on.
For employees, clarity is playing a role in making employees be part of the team and get involved better if the value from the company is related to the employees.
Creativity helps the company improve and stands out from all the other competitors.
4. You have 30 minutes of free time. What do you do with it?
I will see what will happen next and start to do some planning for it.
5. What is one risky and bold goal in life you have? Or, if you could dedicate your life to solving one problem, what would it be?
I am still seeking for it. So far the answer should be keep seeking for the ‘proposition of my life’.
6. Explain your creative process
I enjoy having the most old-school creative process, which is starting from basic research, especially from first-hand information rather than pinterest. Then keep pushing and experimenting, going back to do some critical reflections until the work is visualising the concept. And trying to convince myself there is always a deadline in each project. Do not feeling grumpy if I couldn't deliver the best of it, probably in the future while I am doing other projects. I will found something that could improve the previous project.
7. What is the best advice that you have been given?
Be nice to everyone and never underestimate anyone. You could learn things from any of them.
