I believe I'd be the best applicant because I have my hands on a little bit of everything in the creative industries. In addition to this, I have a bit of industry / agency and other creative experience so I'd be able to hit the ground running!

Hello there! My name’s Jelani Thompson and I’m a Creative Technologist and Developer hailing from OCAD University’s Digital Futures program. My interests include all things design and technology such as generative art, VR/AR, digital modelling + fabrication, web technologies and audio visualization / music production.
1. What's the most courageous thing you've ever done?
The most courageous thing I've done is flying out to a new city in a new country where I was unfamiliar with the culture and learning how to navigate the new environment.
2. How are creativity and innovation related?
Creativity is related to innovation in the sense that creativity is a pre-requisite to innovation. Creativity means you have the ability to see the world in a way that doesn't quite exist yet, and actually going out and creating leads to innovations.
3. Why do companies need clarity and creativity?
Companies need clarity and creativity because clarity is needed to truly understand a company's mission / vision and creativity allows them to constantly come up with new ideas that help move the world towards said vision.
4. You have 30 minutes of free time. What do you do with it?
Depending on if I'm out and about or at home, I might listen to a podcast/audiobook or crack out Ableton and make some tunes.
5. What is one risky and bold goal in life you have? Or, if you could dedicate your life to solving one problem, what would it be?
The one risky and bold goal I have is to eventually build a company. It's currently in the early stages but I'm looking to gain more industry experience to ensure that I can execute correctly. The problem it's solving is one that I'm passionate about and could definitely dedicate my life to which is mental health.
6. Explain your creative process
My creative process starts off with brainstorming and planning a rough outline of the creation of the task at hand. After that, I begin to flesh it out, get feedback and iterate until I have a result that I'm happy with.
7. What is the best advice that you have been given?
The best advice I've ever been given is that a small difference in your daily habits early on results in a wide gap in your outcomes over time
8. What is your definition of creativity?
My definition of creativity is using your mind to bring new ideas to the world. It can also come in moments of inspiration throughout the day.
